Lobo Head Sketch Finished

Love this guy. The nastiest bastich in the DC universe.

Quick Late Night Sketch:Pinup Gal

Read a post on CGHUB about an art challenge to do a pin up girl, well, pinup. Heh. So I thought I try a quick sketch of one, to get the creative juices flowing.

Took about 40+ mins to hammer it out, and went for a more cartoony type of style. This was a style I was playing with a few years ago, when I was just using the traditional tools: pencil, paper, pen, markers. It was fun revisiting this road again :)

Lobo Head Sketch W.IP.

Still have a little bit to go...just need to clean up some stuff and add some finishing touches.

Chapolin Colorado

Loved this show as a kid. It's most memorable to me because I used to watch it with my aunt and grandmother, who is no longer with us.
Regardless, I wanted to give it a fun twist to the character. As a matter of fact, I think I'll probably do more of Chespirito's famous characters ;)

Savage Dragon

Blah, blah...it's 2:30 am and Luna will be up in less than 6 hrs :(
Ugh. So not feeling his right arm.

Self Portrait Day

So, I did this painting for this Facebook event called Self Portrait Day, where we pretty much just painted a self portrait of ourselves. Guess, it's an annual event, but regardless, I've really pushed myself to do this, even though I started around 12 this morning. heh. Took about an hour or so.

Sci Fi Concept

Did this concept for a proposed Sci Fi game, but the creator for the game didn't really like the look I gave her. He was looking for a more "revealing" type of character--more sexy and busty. Would have helped if he gave me a bit more of a description, but at the same time, I was trying not to design a character that was not the cliched "women in video game look". Guess we all have different takes on what a lead female character would look like. heh. More stuff for me to post up then :D

White Lion Warrior

Here's another piece that I've been slowly hammering away at. I wasn't sure where to take it after painting him out as far as an outfit goes, but thanks to my friend Jon, he offered a great suggestion by going with an African type design.

Though, I know I could have pushed it alot farther in the design dept., I guess there's always next time :)

W.I.P. Dragon

I hope to get back to it, considering that it's been a while since I've done a full on illustration-type painting.
So far I think I'm okay with it :)

Elven Warrior

Finally got a chance to finish this at home. I wanted to give this design a wash-like color look to it ala' Alex Ross all the while trying to balance out the contrast, so it won't be unbalanced. Not sure if it looks decent with that attempt, so I dropped another one in, but this time with an added layer to give it some more color. I dunno...I'm just trying out different things.

Digital Doodles N' Stuff

Just some recent works that I wasn't able to really show until I was given the green light. Also, with the recent move and other commitments, I was not able to post anything new these past few months.
Though, I have to say, that I really have been pushing myself as of late in doing a concept a day. I'll be posting more work up hopefully soon :)

Mickey Sketches

Trying my hand at some Disney stuff. Had to read up on some guidelines to properly draw him, and yet, there's still some more work to hammer out before I get where I want to.

Elf healer...

of some sort.
I'm soo creative with my titles.

Anyhoo, here's another I did while at work on my spare time. I was hoping to finish it up at work but got to about 90% on this one.
Man, my new laptop doesn't sync up well with other monitors, cause I can't see her left hand at all!
Guess, I'll go back and work on it later today.
I also have no reason to why she's barefoot. I just wanted to paint feet :)

Soul Eater...

or Soul Taker.
I forget. heh.
Really didn't have a plan when I came into painting this, BUT I did have a general idea of what I wanted. I think not having a plan in the beginning can slow down your workflow cause you end up thinking what and where else you have to fill in to make it complete. Oh well, it's done and I'm moving on.
I'm pretty stoked that I didn't kill the painting at all.
Or did I?

Poison Ivy Inked and Colored

I guess I'm going to be going down the line of DC characters that I drew and continue to ink and color til' I'm pooped :D

Black Canary Ink & Colored

No thanks to my buddy Derek for pushing me to ink these, I finally did so.

Nothing special on the colors. Just used a custom shaped hard brush with multiply layers for each color.
The inks I used a black ink Japanese Pentel calligraphy brush and another Pentel ink brush. I love these pens and rarely use anything else when inking :)
Oh, and I used Canson tracing paper when I inked it, cause I know aside from being ink rusty, I tend to screw up the original from time to time. That, and I still can preserve the original.

Thanks for looking!

More DC Dames

Just sketches that I've been working on in my sketchbook lately. I try and do at least 1 a day, but that doesn't always work out.
Pfft...artists.
Hopefully soon after, I'll move on to Marvel Dames :D

'Nother ipad sketch

With some PS fixin's.
Though this one had more PS work done to this. Totally inspired by The Mist(loved that movie!). Though this painting doesn't do the homage any justice. heh
Here's to more ipad skecthes in the future :D

More DC dames(better this time) and my new ipad touch!!!

Man, I got the best (early)birthday gift this year in the form of the ipad touch. And I knew that I had to buy sketchbook pro. So far I'm loving it, though the pogo stylus that I separately purchased is pretty poopy. You're better off with your finger until they make some better for artists.

Regardless, this sketch was done in sketchbook pro on the ipad and then taken into PS for some clean ups and corrections as you can see from the two images above. It's awesome that you can actually export your sketchbook files as a PSD. and email it to yourself. Very nice!

Pin up girl W.I.P. 5 *whew*!

Finally done.
Well, as done as it's gonna get, BUT I do still see a few, tintsy, small things I know I'm gonna clean up or tweat, and that's it, I swear!
Well, one of the things that I had to correct was her X-men Beast-like feet. Those things were huge! That and I extended her calves a bit more, cause she looked a bit stumpy.
And in the end, I think by adding clothes and shoes, she ended up looking a whole lot better. Who would ever have thought a guy to say that women look better with clothes on? heh. just kidding.

...or am I? :P

Pin up girl W.I.P. 4

Just a few more tweaks...

pinup girl W.I.P. 3

I'm almost done, but it's pretty close now. Maybe I shouldn't have signed it just yet :)

W.I.P part 2

So, I finally decided to go back and start finishing this since I haven't touched her forever(not like that!!).
But so far, I think I'm heading in the right direction. Still need to work on the hand and feet a bit more.

Any suggestions for a bg?
